Screech Owl
Wildlife Park
It has been many years since we had visited the Screech Owl Sanctuary (as it was called then). The children still chortle at me being clipped by an owl during a flying display. Despite the dangers, we revisited in May 2109, on Tori’s recommendation, to find that besides owls there are now alpacas, meerkats, ponies, goats and racoons.
The owl flying displays are held three times a day, moving into the large barn if cold or wet. The staff are friendly and chatty and there is plenty of opportunity to stroke owls or watch the animal feeding.
There is a cafe but picnic benches too, so worth taking a picnic and spending two or three hours there.
Make sure you get a discount voucher (currently £2 per person) from tourist guide books or use your smartphone on the park’s web site voucher.
The park is easy to get to – follow the A39 beyond Wadebridge in the direction of Newquay. It is in the Indian Queens area, look out for brown signs.
