Pencarrow House & Gardens

Pencarrow House and gardens has been the family home of the Molesworth-St Aubyns for almost 500 years.

Tucked away on the edge of Bodmin Moor, this Cornish Georgian gem offers plenty to do, with a Grade II listed garden, Iron Age fort, children’s play area, café and gift shop.

We visited late April and the gardens and woods were full of camellias and rhodedendron, bluebells and wild garlic. The place wasn’t packed, even on a bank holiday weekend. A house tour is recommended (you can’t wander around by yourselves) but if you have already done that then the grounds on a sunny day are a real treat. The free roaming peacocks and chickens are a bonus!

The house has been used for many TV and film productions, most recently ‘Fishermen’s Friends’.

Check opening times – Friday and Saturday mostly closed. Website: https://www.pencarrow.co.uk/
