Trebarwith Strand
The beach is quite flat so the tide goes out and comes in quickly – for maximum time at the beach, arrive one and a half hours before low tide and make sure you don’t get cut off at the right-hand side when the tide turns!
If you arrive at high tide the waves crashing on the rocks of the inlet is spectacular.
Like many along the North Coast, this is a surfing beach but it is also ideal for children as the sea is very paddleable, the rock pools are plungable and the sand is damp enough for great sandcastles.
There is a cafe for snacks/drinks and the Port William pub overlooking the inlet serves coffees/beers and pub meals.
There are two car parks, try the first one you reach as this is bigger. The walk to the beach is short, past some smart holiday homes. Parking after 5pm is free, so great for evening walks on the beach or the coastal paths (or just sitting outside the pub/restaurant).
